Episode Three: Aaaaadventure Time!
______________________________________________________
It was a normal morning in Ponyville. The pegasi were busy rearranging clouds in the sky, preparing for the afternoon showers. On the ground the Earth ponies went about their daily business; meeting with friends, shopping or just relaxing at home. Every pony was enjoying himself or herself... except for one.
"Im so boooooored," Sonic moaned. He plopped down in the center of Twilight's library and huffed. "When does something fun happen?"
Twilight smiled at Sonic's impatience. She looked up from her scrolls over to the blue pony she had recently befriended. "Well, later Sally and I will head over to Rarity's. She said she had some new matching outfits she wanted us to try! Do you want to come with us?" Sonic blinked slowly.
"Um... will there be any sort of danger to stop on the way?" He asked, scratching his ear with his hoof.
Twilight shook her head. "I highly doubt it; Ponyville for the most part isn't a dangerous place." Sonic's ears drooped in sorrow.
"What about.... some sort of trouble to get into so I can save the day?" He asked hopefully.
"Er, no." Twilight stated. Sensing that Sonic was upset, she quickly added, "You know, I bet Rainbow Dash has something for you to do! Why don't you go find her?" Sonic immediately perked up.
"Hey, that's a great idea! Thanks Twilight!" He shouted happily as he sped out the door, leaving behind a whirlwind of various papers. Twilight hurriedly used her magic to catch them all before they got too mixed up.
"At least he's out of my mane for now," she sighed.
Sonic ran all across Ponyville, looking for Rainbow Dash. Realizing he didn't actually know where she lived, he stopped to ask a small orange pegasus for directions. "Hey, pony! You know where a pegasus called Rainbow Dash lives?" The orange pegasus immediately jumped around and faced him excitedly.
"Do I know where Rainbow Dash lives? Of course I do!" She replied. "After all, she's only the COOLEST pony in Ponyville!"
"Hey, there may be a new pony gunning for top spot on the cool tree," Sonic replied with a grin. The orange pony rolled her eyes.
"Pff, yeah right. Like you could EVER be as cool as Rainbow Dash. Anyway, the name's Scootaloo, and I can take you to see her," She said as she pulled a scooter out of nowhere and strapped on a helmet. She then slapped a helmet on Sonic's head and pushed him on the back of her scooter.
"Uh... what are we doing?" Sonic asked right before Scootaloo took off. He quickly grabbed on for dear life as she careened through the streets on her scooter. It only took a few minutes for them to reach the outskirts of town, where she pulled to a sudden stop, throwing Sonic off her scooter.
"See, that's why you always wear a helmet!" She said smiling. She pulled off her helmet and took Sonic's, setting them by her scooter. "Rainbow Dash lives up there by the way." She pointed to a large cloud building in the sky, complete with rainbows and waterfalls.
"Wow. Colorful," Sonic laughed. "Thanks kid, I owe ya one!" He called to Scootaloo as she took off back across town. He scratched his head, trying to figure out a way up to the sky, before finally settling on yelling for her loudly. "Hey DASHY! Dashy dashy dashy dashy dashy dash-"
"WHAAAT!?" She shouted back, appearing at the edge of her cloud. "Sonic? What's up slowpoke?" She said a bit more cheerily after seeing who it was.
"Just wanted to know if we could do something fun, I'm bored to tears right now. Wanna race?" He asked hopefully.
"Aw Sonic, I really want to! But me and the other pegasi gotta get the sky ready for the afternoon showers! You know how it is," she said as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Uh, right. But, if you could remind me..."
Rainbow Dash sighed. "You know, we have to push the clouds together and everything." She looked at Sonic expectantly, who replied by blinking slowly in confusion. "You know, so it can rain! Because we need the rain!" Sonic blinked again. "Ugh, look. You'll get to see what I mean this afternoon," she said in frustration.
"So... this means we can't race?" Sonic asked. Rainbow Dash shook her head before zooming off into the sky. "Okay then!" Sonic called after her. "I'll... catch up to ya later! Yeah! Totally..." He hung his head before walking back into town slowly.
"Heeey, why so glum?" A pink pony asked as she bounded right in front of Sonic. He slid to a stop and blinked.
"Uh... Pinkie was it? The party girl?"
"Yeppity yep! That's me, Pinkie Pie! What can I do you for?" She hopped around Sonic in circles, much to the blue pony's exasperation.
"Uh, well... something fun? I'm bored and want to do something!" Sonic said pitifully as Pinkie grinned.
"Well you certainly came to the right place!" Pinkie laughed as she put a hoof around Sonic and quickly dragged him to the bakery she worked at. Pulling a chef's hat from somewhere, she plopped it on Sonic's head before rushing over to the cabinets and pulling out various pots and pans. "Let's see, I know it's in here somewhere..."
Sonic looked up at the hat on his head then at Pinkie Pie, who was now using her nose to flip through a cookbook. "Er, Pinkie... just what are we doing and what exactly is supposed to be fun about this?"
"Silly Sonic, we're going to bake some MUFFINS!" Pinkie Pie said excitedly as she tapped the counter with her hooves in delight.
Sonic's face drooped. "Muffins?" He took off his chef hat and sighed. "I'm sorry Pinkie but I don't see how-"
She gasped. "You're right! We can't make muffins without the muffin pans!" She zoomed over to the cabinets and began throwing random things over her shoulder, hitting Sonic in the head more than once.
"Hey! That's not what I meant! Or even said!" He ducked a rubber ducky Pinkie threw.
"Ooh, what kind of muffins should we make?" Pinkie bounced all around the kitchen as she looked at all the ingredients. "We could make carrot muffins or chocolate muffins or apple muffins or carrot chocolate muffins or chocolate apple muffins or chocolate chocolate muffins or... or... anything!" She stopped right in front of Sonic and grinned right in front of his face.
Sonic took a step back nervously. "Uh, anything?" Pinkie Pie nodded her head vigorously before frowning and shaking her head no.
"Well, anything except oatmeal muffins."
Sonic blinked in reply. "Oatmeal muffins?"
Pinkie Pie frowned as she shuddered. "Not after last time." Sonic looked at her suspiciously before she gasped again. "I got it! We'll put EVERYTHING in the muffins!"
"Except..."
"Yes," Pinkie nodded gravely, "except oatmeal." Sonic quietly tiptoed towards the door as Pinkie Pie raced around the kitchen, mixing various ingredients and singing ditties to herself. He breathed a sigh of relief as he made it out side without catching the pink pony's attention.
"Well, that was a bust," Sonic muttered to himself. He kicked a rock on the ground and hung his head. "There's gotta be some way for a guy around here to get some adventure. Maybe I just have to go out and find it." He perked up at the thought. "Of course! I have to find adventure! Maybe even ol' Eggpony has something I can fight!" He immediately set off at a fast trot toward the forest at the edge of town he had seen Eggpony run into.
It wasn't long before Sonic reached the forest. He stopped just shy of entering it and peered in. "Man, it looks creepy in there. Which is just perfect! I bet there's a ton of adventure to be had!" He reared up on his hind legs and struck a pose, pointing toward the sky.
"What are you doing Sonic?" A soft voice asked, making him jump.
"Gyah! Ah... er, Fluttershy..." Sonic coughed in embarrassment. "You startled me. Slightly."
Fluttershy bent her ears back and hung her head. "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll try to be quieter next time."
"Oh no, it's okay!" Sonic said consolingly. "I was just about ready to go into this creepy dark forest that's probably full of danger and terrifying things!"
Fluttershy's eyes widened in surprise. "Why on Equestria would you ever want to go into the... Everfree Forest?" She asked in shock.
"Um, thought I made that pretty clear," Sonic replied. "I'm bored and I need an adventure. That looks like a great place to find one!" Fluttershy ducked behind Sonic and peeked out over his back at the forest.
"But it's so dark and scary!" Fluttershy shook in fear. "Things are unnatural in there! Animals take care of themselves! And the clouds move on their own! Trees and plants never need any tending... it's awful and horrible!"
Sonic blinked in confusion and looked at Fluttershy strangely. "Uh, right. Scary. You know, in the world I came from the whole planet was like that." Fluttershy gasped and threw her front legs around Sonic, hugging him tightly.
"Oh you poor thing, no wonder you came to this place!" Fluttershy said soothingly. "Don't worry, you're safe now." Sonic quickly pulled out from her grip and shook out his mane.
"All these ponies are crazy," he muttered to himself as he stepped into the forest. Fluttershy walked quietly beside him as she glanced around.
"Um, I really don't think we should go in here," Fluttershy whimpered.
Sonic snorted. "Then head back, I never asked you to come in here with me." He walked on as Fluttershy froze in the path for a moment.
"No, I'd never forgive myself if something were to happen to my new friend," She said as she trotted back alongside Sonic. He shrugged his shoulders and continued on.
"Suit yourself then, I don't mind if you come along!" He replied as he looked around the forest, which certainly was a gloomy place. The trees were overgrown with moss that draped down everywhere, giving the atmosphere an eerie feel. Fluttershy stepped gingerly around a mud puddle in the path before walking straight into a spider web.
"Eep!" She squealed as she shook her head trying to get the webbing out of her face. "Let's go home now; I think this is enough adventure..."
'Pah, hardly!" Sonic jumped on a nearby rock and looked out over the scenery. Forest stretched as far as he could see on each side, but there was no sign of anything exciting. "Dang it, I figured Eggpony would be here working on something!"
"Eggpony?" Fluttershy asked meekly. "You mean that awful pony with the big robot?" Sonic nodded. "Why are we looking for him?"
"He's kinda my mortal enemy." Sonic jumped down from the rock and continued walking.
"Oh dear, I'm sorry. It must be terrible to have an enemy," Fluttershy said in an apologetic tone.
"Aw, don't be. He tries to cause trouble for my friends and I stop him from doing his evil plans! It's our thing really," Sonic laughed.
Fluttershy walked along for awhile in silence before taking off from the ground slightly and hovering in front of Sonic. "So, you're like, a hero? Who helps people?"
"You bet! That's what Sonic the Hedgehog is known for!" He boasted proudly.
"That's nice!" Fluttershy replied. She was silent for a few seconds before stating, "You don't look like a hedgehog." Sonic hoofpalmed.
"Right right, keep forgetting that." He suddenly stopped and flicked his ears. "Do you hear something?" Fluttershy immediately stopped hovering and fell to the ground, curled up tightly. "Hey, it's cool. I think it was just a bird somewhere," Sonic said comfortingly. Fluttershy sighed in relief as she got up, before hearing a very loud howling that was definitely not a bird.
"Sonic, I don't know what the birds sounded like where you came from, but I don't think that's a bird," Fluttershy said. Sonic's face turned grim as he zoomed off towards the source of the sound. "H-hey! Don't leave me here!" Fluttershy shouted in her own quiet way. She quickly followed after Sonic, who had veered off the path towards a particularly nasty looking thicket. "Oh dear..."
Sonic pulled to a stop and grinned. "Ah-ha! I thought I recognized that sound!" Fluttershy entered the thicket right behind him and gasped.
"Is that... Eggpony?" She asked incredulously. Sonic snorted before falling to the ground, rolling in laughter.
"Will you stop laughing you infernal mangy... pony! AND GET ME DOWN FROM HERE!" Eggpony shouted from his perch in the tree.
"How... how did you get tangled up in those vines? Up there!" Sonic asked, trying to stop laughing. Tears were starting to roll down his cheek as he stared at Eggpony, who was hanging upside down from a tree, his hooves completely entangled in vines.
"It's none of your business how I got up here! Now get me down before I... before I do something! Terrible!" He flailed about wildly, sending Sonic into another fit of derisive laughter.
Several long minutes passed before Sonic sniffed and wiped his tears away. "Okay, okay. I'm good now. Course, I don't really know how to get you down since I can't really spindash or anything. I guess I could pound the tree until you fall down..."
"Nonono," Eggpony replied quickly, "That's quite alright." Sonic looked around as he tried to think of some way to help. He suddenly realized Fluttershy was still there with them and grinned.
"Fluttershy!" Sonic shouted, making her jump nervously. "You can fly right? You should fly up there and see if you can get him down!" Fluttershy looked from Sonic to Eggpony and back again.
"So, you want me to fly all the way up there and help the bad pony who tried to hurt us before to get free. Is that what you're asking?" She asked as she tried to understand. Sonic grinned.
"Yup! Just fly up there! Don't worry, I'll be right under you and Eggpony in case something happens," Sonic trotted over and stood under the fat red pony, who dangled several feet above his head.
"But wait," Fluttershy said. She stood unmoving as she raised an eyebrow. "I just want to know, I mean, if it's no trouble, why are we helping the bad pony?"
Sonic scratched his ear with his hoof and shrugged. "Eh, you gotta help everybody if they get in a jam, even the bad guys. 'Sides, wouldn't it make US the bad ponies to just leave him here helpless?" Fluttershy blinked slowly as she thought about this.
"I... yes, I guess you're right Sonic." She flew up slowly until she was level with Eggpony. "I don't care if you... you are a bad pony. I-I'm still going to help you, because it's the right thing to do!" Eggpony rolled his eyes as Fluttershy gently tugged on the vines in an attempt to free him. It didn't take long for him to roll free of the vines and fall straight to the ground.
Eggpony screamed as he headed straight for Sonic, who sidestepped out of the way just before he hit the ground with a thud. "Ooooh, my aching mustache..." Eggpony groaned. Fluttershy fluttered down and kicked the ground gently with her feet as she looked at Eggpony expectantly. "What?" He asked. "Are you wanting me to say something?!" His voice rose sharply as he got off the ground and stood to his full height. Fluttershy took a step back as she bit her lip.
"Oh, uh no. I was just, I mean-" She nervously stuttered until Sonic stepped between them.
"I think she wanted a thank you Eggpony, if it's not too much trouble," Sonic said with a wink at Fluttershy, who smiled.
"A THANK YOU?" He shook his head and laughed. "Like I would ever thank that terrified little twerp!" Sonic glared at him mischievously.
"Well, I just figured you might want to. You know, before we throw back into those vines," He said threateningly. Eggpony's mustache drooped as he thought it over. He finally hung his head and mumbled something incoherent. "What was that Eggy? Did you say something?"
"I said... thank you!" He pounded his hoof on the ground as Fluttershy smiled, pleased she could help. "But I'm only thanking you for the fact I can now destroy you!" Sonic snorted as he swished his tail.
"Eh, it's cool Eggpony. Just say the word, and I'll be there to stop you!" He threw his head high as he trotted out of the thicket with Fluttershy behind him.
"Oh, good bye Eggpony!" Fluttershy said quietly as she waved. "I hope you become a good pony someday!" Eggpony just stuck his tongue out at her and huffed. She smiled back more brightly than last time, before flying out after Sonic.
Eggpony looked all around before sitting down with a sigh. "Well. That was fun." A few more minutes of silence passed. "Wonder when they'll be back..."
"Well," Sonic said happily, "that may not have been the grand adventure I was looking for, but I still had fun! How about you Fluttershy?"
She fluttered along quietly beside him and answered softly, "It was nice I suppose to help that pony. Do you think he'll be alright here by himself?"
"Oh sure! He's just gotta get his bearings, then he'll be out in full force!" Sonic grinned at the thought. "So, lead us home Fluttershy!"
"Um, home?"
Sonic halted. "Yeah, home. Don't you remember the way back?"
"Oh, I... I thought you were going to... I mean, I didn't know... oh dear," She said tearfully as she folded her wings and walked alongside Sonic.
"Hey, it's okay! I have a great sense of direction!" He grinned, raising Fluttershy's hopes some. "Now come on, I'm pretty sure it's... this way!" With that they set off, following Sonic's directions.
Sally looked at herself in the mirror and smiled admiringly. "Rarity, this gown is amazing! I can't believe how great your designs are!" Her blue dress sparkled and shimmered as it cascaded down her back and flowed along the floor behind her. "I don't remember the last time I ever wore something so... beautiful!"
Rarity giggled. "Oh, that old thing? It's just something I threw together recently dear. But I am sooo glad you like it! Since you look so good in that dress I think I'll let you keep it." Sally blushed.
"Oh, I don't know. I'd feel terrible just taking something so wonderful without giving you anything in return," Sally replied.
"Whatever do you mean nothing in return? We're friends aren't we?" Rarity asked, seemingly shocked. "I don't mind at all doing things for my friends!"
"Rarity, you're such a generous pony," Twilight said as she stepped out from behind her changing panel. She looked at Sally and smiled. "Wow Sally, that dress! It's... it's so you!"
"You think?" She beamed at the attention she was receiving from the two ponies before pointing to Twilight's dress. "Twilight, I think your dress is just as beautiful!" Twilight crossed her front legs and posed.
Rarity glanced at it critically and shook her head. "Tsk tsk, nonono. It needs more ribbons around the edges I believe."
"Oh Rarity, you've already done such a good job on these designs! I think they're just fine the way they are," Twilight said reassuringly.
"Just fine will hardly do girls, my buyers demand perfection and nothing less! Now take it off Twilight, let me work on it some more." Twilight obliged and Rarity immediately set back to work on it.
"So, have you seen Sonic lately?" Sally asked. Twilight laughed.
"I saw him earlier this morning. He was bored just sitting around the library so I shooed him out to go find Rainbow Dash. Though I think she's been up in the clouds all day, so I'm not sure where Sonic might have gotten off to," Twilight trailed off as she thought. "You don't think he could have gotten into any sort of trouble do you?"
Sally took off her dress and laid it out carefully. "Sonic? Get into trouble? Yeah, that would never happen," she snorted sarcastically. "Oh dear, perhaps we should go find out where he is..."
Twilight nodded and turned to Rarity, who was busy at her sewing machine. "Rarity, we hate to leave you like this but we need to go find Sonic. I hope you don't mind." Rarity waved them off without looking up.
"It's fine girls! Really, I need to fix this dress anyway. Go find your blue friend! Oh, lace, that's just what this needs..." Rarity went back to her work as Twilight and Sally exited the building.
"Okay, so where should we start?" Sally asked as they made their way through the town.
"SOOONIC!" Twilight and Sally looked at each other before running off after the shout they heard. Turning a corner they saw Pinkie standing outside her bakery looking very upset. "I can't believe he left before the muffins were done!"
"Was Sonic here earlier?" Twilight asked her friend. Pinkie Pie rolled her eyes in reply and huffed.
"Of course I did! But then he bailed before we even got a chance to make any muffins!" She pouted slightly.
"Sonic? Baking?" Sally giggled at the idea before seeing Pinkie glare at her. "Uh, well, I'm sorry he left. Maybe he was busy with something else?"
Pinkie Pie shrugged. "Heck if I know. I already delivered the muffins to the mailmare anyway, so I guess if you two are looking for him I can help."
"Well we need to know where he was headed first..." Sally's voice trailed off as she looked around. "Where could he have gone?"
"I'm not sure," Twilight said. She tapped her head with her hoof as she thought. "He was saying something about finding adventure or danger or something. Though we don't really have any place like that in Ponyville."
"What about the Everfree Forest?" Pinkie asked excitedly, Sonic's transgressions forgotten. Twilight's eyes widened.
"No, Sonic wouldn't go into there, would he?" Sally looked blankly at Twilight, who went on to explain, "Everfree Forest lies at the outskirts of Ponyville. It's a very dangerous place for ponies to be and full of all sorts of monsters."
Sally sighed and shook her head. "Yeah, Sonic's definitely there. We should probably go get him before he does anything foolish... more foolish anyway." The three ponies nodded affirmatively before running off towards the forest, Twilight leading the way.
"The Everfree Forest is a large place though, I'm not sure how we're going to find out where they went," Twilight said worriedly. They stepped into the dark and dreary woods and looked around. "Maybe they've left some sort of clues to follow?"
Pinkie Pie giggled and bounced around in circles. "I don't know about any clues, but somepony left some hoof prints here!" She pointed towards the markings on the ground which led deeper into the trees.
"Nice find!" Sally congratulated Pinkie. "Come on girls, he's gotta be this way!" They took off quickly, being sure to follow the prints.
"I sure wish Applejack was here, she's the best tracker in all of Ponyville," Twilight said. She quickly glanced to make sure she hadn't lost sight of the marks before continuing, "Plus it looks like there are two ponies here, so someone must have went with Sonic!"
Sally groaned. "I hope he hasn't gotten any pony into trouble."
"Huh," Sonic stated, "I don't remember this being here at all." He looked down from the cliff he was on and blinked. "Man, that's gotta be a few hundred feet drop there!"
"Sonic, we're... lost aren't we," Fluttershy sighed. Sonic snorted and shook his head.
"I never get lost. I just... explore new places I know nothing about." He turned from the cliff and trotted back to the trees. "Hey," he called over his shoulder to Fluttershy, "maybe I could run around and find my way back to town, then come back with someone and get you!"
Fluttershy gulped. "L-leave me here? Alone? By myself?" She trembled slightly at the thought. "I don't know if I... what I mean is..."
Sonic noticed his friend didn't really seem to like the idea of being left alone and smiled. "Hey, it's cool. I doubt I could run very fast through all those trees anyway."
"Oh... oh thank you Sonic!" Fluttershy said happily as they started walking once more.
Sally shook off a spider web and spat, "Ugh! Just where could he have gone anyway?"
"He's in the Everfree Forest silly!" Pinkie replied, "Remember? That's why we're here!" Sally's ears drooped before she shook her head.
"I know that! I meant where in the Everfree Forest is he?" Sally snapped.
"Well I don't know! If I did know then we wouldn't be looking for him would we?" Pinkie laughed. Sally's eye began to twitch before Twilight walked up beside her and coughed.
"You'll have to get used to Pinkie. She's... well, she's Pinkie Pie." Twilight rolled her eyes. They continued on in silence for awhile until they reached a large thicket. "Oh dear, I don't think I can find any more tracks..."
"Well, maybe they're still somewhere around here somewhere?" Sally asked hopefully. They were interrupted by a scream from the thicket as a red pony burst out and dove into some nearby bushes.
"Wha... what was that?" Twilight rubbed her eyes with her hooves to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
"I think that was Eggpony. And it looked like he was running from something!" Sally quickly stated as she looked into the bushes Eggpony had dived into. He stuck his head out over the bushes and grinned.
"Ah-ha! This worked out better than I thought! Now you two can distract that beast while I flee! BWAHAHA!" He took off and disappeared.
"That's a silly pony!" Pinkie Pie giggled just before a horrifying roar shook the entire ground. "Though that doesn't sound very silly!"
"What was that?" Sally asked as the rumbling continued.
Twilight took a step back and looked at Sally worriedly. "I don't know, but I think it's coming this way!" Just as she said so a large beast jumped out of the thicket and roared right in the pony's faces, before standing to its full height. "I-it's a PONYTAUR!"
"Wait, what." Sally looked at Twilight and back to the creature, who stood there eyeing them critically. "A ponytaur? Really?"
"Yes! It's a creature that has the body of a pony but the head of a bull! And they're almost always very angry and very mean!" Twilight spoke rapidly. The ponytaur's large red eyes looked at them each as the fur on its back rippled and is tail twitched rapidly.
"Well, I don't really understand what it could do to us," Sally said. The ponytaur answered by lowering its head, pointing its large gleaming horns straight at Sally.
"That!" Pinkie Pie shouted loudly.
"... oh," Sally squeaked. The ponytaur bellowed loudly as it charged at Sally, who ducked to the side just in time. The ponytaur stopped and turned back around, only to see three ponies running away very quickly. It roared again and pawed at the ground, tearing up large pieces of dirt before charging after them.
"Okay!" Sally shouted as they ran for their lives. "What do we do now?"
Sonic perked his ears up. "Did you hear any screaming Fluttershy?"
Fluttershy listened closely. "I... I think so. Oh dear, do you think someone's in trouble?" She asked worriedly.
"Only one way to find out!" Sonic lifted his front legs off the ground and pawed the air before charging off.
"H-hey! Wait for me! Oh dear..." Fluttershy hurried after him.
Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Sally pulled to a stop. A large rock wall was in front of them blocking their path. Turning around they saw the ponytaur charging down on them faster and faster. "Okay... this is bad!" Sally said as she looked around for something to use as a weapon. Suddenly, Twilight sprang forward and shouted.
"STOP!" She looked expectantly at the ponytaur who still was rushing at them. "Well, it was worth a try," She said quietly, backing up.
"Yo! Big, fat and ugly!" A familiar voice called out. Everyone looked up to see Sonic perched on the wall several feet above them. The ponytaur stopped and looked quizzically at the newcomer. "Yeah dude, I'm talking to you! You better lay off my friends before I decided to whoop you into next week!"
The ponytaur snorted as Sonic glared at it. He quickly began charging the three ponies again. Sonic grinned as he leapt from his position and spun around in the air, landing just in front of the ponytaur. The ponytaur slid to a stop just in front of Sonic's face, who glared back. "You're in for it now, bub." Sonic said before they started fighting. A large cloud of dust immediately covered the two as they kicked each other viciously.
Sally, Twilight and Pinkie Pie looked on in astonishment before Fluttershy flew down in the midst of them. "Oh! I'm... so glad... you found us!" She panted out as she tried to catch her breath. She just then noticed Sonic and the ponytaur fighting. "Oh my! What happened?"
"Well we were looking for you two and then we went into the Forest and we found the fat red pony before he ran off screaming! And then this ponytaur showed up and I had never seen a ponytaur before so that was kinda cool but then he started trying to attack us! So we were running and screaming and screaming and running but then he trapped us here and all hope was lost until SONIC showed up! And now they're fighting. I don't know why." Pinkie Pie said, all in one breath. Fluttershy blinked as she processed everything.
The fighting suddenly stopped as the ponytaur cried out in pain. "OW!" He said gruffly as tears came to his eyes. Sonic looked at him in shock as he stepped back. "You kicked my eye..." he moaned, rubbing his new black eye.
"Uh..." was all Sonic could get out.
"Wait!" Twilight stomped the ground with her hoof. "You could talk this whole time and you were trying to kill us?!"
The ponytaur sniffed and shook his head. "I wasn't tryin' to kill you! I was just chasin' you out of my home..."
Sally and Twilight looked at each other sheepishly before Sally asked. "Your home?" The ponytaur nodded.
"Yeah, that grove of trees back there that the red pony kept tryin' to take from me, that was my home. I didn't mean to scare any of ya or nothin', I just thought you were tryin' to take my home too!" He hung his head sadly. "I'm sorry..." Everyone looked rather embarrassed after he had spoken, except for Fluttershy. The forest was quiet for a few moments before the ponytaur looked at Sonic and said, "Plus it kinda hurt when you called me fat and ugly."
Fluttershy looked at Sonic disapprovingly. "Sonic! Did you call this poor ponytaur fat and ugly?" Sonic looked at the ground and mumbled something. "I can't hear you!" She said as she walked over to Sonic and looked him straight in the eye, making Sonic cower slightly. "Shouldn't you say something to him?"
Sonic shrugged, exasperated. "It was an accident! I didn't know what the ponytaur was really doing! I just thought he was going to hurt my friends!"
"I have a name you know," the ponytaur broke in, "It's Minos if anyone cares."
"You apologize to Minos right now Sonic!" Fluttershy said again. Sonic glanced helplessly at Sally and the other ponies, who looked back at him with stern gazes. "If Eggpony can apologize, I certainly don't see why the great hero Sonic can't," Fluttershy stated softly. Sonic's eyes widened as it hit him what he was doing. His head drooped as he let out a sigh of defeat.
"Fine, I'm sorry... Minos, for calling you fat and ugly." Sonic's ears drooped as he forced the words out. Minos sniffed and smiled just a bit.
"Ahem?" Fluttershy looked at Sonic impatiently. "Aaaand?"
Sonic sighed as his head drooped even more. "And... I'm sorry for attacking you for no reason..." Minos smiled widely.
"Aaaaaand?" Fluttershy still looked at him expectantly.
"And I'm sorry for you leaving you behind Fluttershy when we were out in the forest and not being nicer to you!" He shouted before he fell to the ground and covered his face with his hooves. Fluttershy smiled as Minos reached out and gave him a noogie with his large hoof. "Hey hey okay okay!" Sonic pulled out of his reach and shook his mane.
"Hey, you ponies are pretty cool," Minos said happily. "I don't really like being around others, but you guys are welcome to drop by any time you like! Er, provided you don't try to kick me out."
Pinkie Pie grinned. "Yay! A new friend!" She immediately ran over and hugged Minos tightly, much to his shock.
"Eeerr, yes," he mumbled as he blushed. "Well, I better head back home. See you ponies later!" He called over his shoulder as he left them.
"I suppose we should head back home as well," Twilight said, "I think I can remember the way back to Ponyville!" She took the lead as the other ponies followed. Pinkie talked rapidly about their adventures as Fluttershy listened. Sonic hung towards the back, hanging his head and dragging his feet.
"Hey," Sally whispered to him as she stepped in line beside him. "Why so glum? Are you upset because of what happened back there?"
Sonic sighed. "Yeah... well, sorta. I mean, I was just telling Fluttershy earlier how cool a hero I was and we should always help everyone, even our enemies!" Sonic quickly recapped his adventures he had with Fluttershy earlier. "And then, after all that I just go attack a guy who wasn't even doing anything bad!"
"Well, he had been acting like he was going to hurt us," Sally replied, "But Sonic, even 'awesome' heroes like you make mistakes! The important thing is that you recognize them and try to do better!" Sonic perked up slightly as he thought about it.
"I guess you're right Sal. I really didn't know that guy was just defending his home! Though now I think I know how Eggpony got into trouble earlier..." He laughed along with Sally before they ran up to the other ponies to talk about everything that had happened.
Later that day back in Ponyville, Twilight sighed happily at being back at the library. "Well, I hope you've had enough excitement for today Sonic," she said to the blue pony.
"Yeah, I guess," Sonic yawned, "Kinda tired now to be honest." Suddenly the door burst open and Pinkie Pie rushed in.
"There you are Sonic! Just in time to finish what we started earlier!" Sonic looked bewildered as Pinkie strapped several boxes of muffins onto his back. "It seems the mailmare 'lost' the last batch of muffins she was supposed to deliver, so I made some more! This time you get to deliver them!"
"Wait! I don't..." He started before Pinkie shoved him out the door and closed it behind him. "Dang it... I don't even like muffins. Though... I suppose it can't get any worse." A crack of lightning crossed the sky followed by rolling thunder. Rain immediately followed; thoroughly soaking the pony and turning the muffins into mush.
"Oop! Sorry Sonic!" A familiar voice called from the sky. Sonic looked up at Rainbow Dash, who was peeking through a hole in the clouds. "Guess we put a bit too much storm in these clouds! Don't worry, it'll calm down soon enough!" Sonic sighed as the rain continued to fall around him.
Back inside, Twilight used her magic to pull out a quill and scroll. As the rain fell outside, she began writing.
"Dear Princess Celestia,
Today was very exciting, and our new friends certainly are interesting ponies! The blue one, Sonic is very adventurous and loves danger, much like my friend Rainbow Dash. He went out seeking adventure today but got a different sort of adventure than he had bargained for, giving us all a good lesson to remember. No pony should ever be denied help, even if they're not the nicest of ponies. No matter what a pony or even a ponytaur may seem like at first we should always try to be friendly and help if possible!
Your Faithful Student,
Twilight Sparkle"
But yeah. I saw your MLP: FiA thread on Bumbleking (I can only skulk now, after recieving my permaban for forgetting and subsequently breaking the #1 rule about YouTube, but that's off-topic.
The point I think I was trying to make is I'm lovin MLH: FiA (Cuz I've been a closet brony ever since seeing this little number by the Sonic F people), I wish I hadn't derped myself into a perma, I will hastily add your Ponytaur to my list of challenging things to draw (which I still don't know if I'm gonna tackle in a first-come-first-serve manner or not
Aw yeah, the Camaraderie is Supernatural they did was awesome. I'm glad you like the story though, always nice to meet a fellow brony *brohoof for awesomeness* especially one who hangs around BKC. Even if you are banned.
But I'm looking forward to the ponytaur! GIT TO IT MAH BOI.

So, yeah, ponytaur. I'll do some research on the MLP: FiM style, try to draw up some design sketches, and keep you up to date.
P.S. Aren't you a resident of the Southern Continental U.S.? You'll never guess where I moved about two years back!
